Privacy Policy
Plain language, no lawyer-speak. This describes exactly what the BrainTrain app stores, why, and how to get rid of it.
Who runs BrainTrain
BrainTrain is operated by Brent Berger, Madison, Wisconsin. BrainTrain is a separate product from the Transformation Center; if you are a Transformation Center member, that membership is governed by their own policies, not this one.
The short version
- We store what is needed to run your account and your training program. Nothing else.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites. There is no advertising code in the app.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, without asking us.
What we collect, and why
Your account
Your email address, and your name if you provide one or if Apple or Google supplies it when you sign in. Your email is how you sign in and how we reach you about your account. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's relay address.
Your training record
Which activities you started, which you finished, the level you are working at, and the one-to-three difficulty rating you give afterward. This is not optional extra data — it is what decides which activity you get next. Without it the program cannot adapt.
Your starting point
Your answers to the short "find your starting point" questions when you first join. These set where your activities begin. They are self-reported preferences, not a test, not a score, and not a clinical assessment of any kind.
Messages you send us
Anything you write through Contact Us inside the app, so we can answer you.
Technical information
A device token so we can send the daily reminder if you turn it on, and automatic crash reports if the app fails. Crash reports are tied to your account identifier so a problem you report can be matched to what actually happened.
Settings that never leave your phone
Appearance, text size, sound, and your reminder time are stored on your device only.
What we do not collect
No location. No contacts. No photos. No health records, and no connection to any medical or insurance system. No advertising identifiers, and no code that follows you to other apps or sites.
Who else touches your information
Two companies process data on our behalf, and only for the purposes above:
- Google Firebase — sign-in, database, notifications, crash reporting, and basic usage counts.
- Mux — delivers the activity videos. Video access is granted with a short-lived signed link tied to your account.
Neither is permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it goes.
Deleting your account
Open the app, go to Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, your training history and ratings, your program enrollment, your messages, and your sign-in credential. If you signed in with Apple, the app will ask you to confirm with Apple one more time so that BrainTrain's access to your Apple ID is revoked at the same time.
It cannot be undone and we cannot restore it. If you only want fewer notifications, turn off the daily reminder under Reminders instead.
Children
BrainTrain is built for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who receives it, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect.
